What Is Ovonic Materials Division Doing Now?

Ovonic Materials Division is focused on maintaining its leading nickel metal hydride (NiMH) intellectual property (IP) position and assuring that its NiMH license and royalty revenues continue into the distant future.

At Ovonic Materials Division, we are focused on developing the next generations of NiMH technology to enable lower cost, increased power and cycle life, increased low-temperature power, and increased capacity and energy. These developments will allow us and our licensees to capture new markets and to withstand the competition from competing battery technologies.

We are also continuing to conduct R&D on our proprietary biofuel reformation technology, which offers the potential for low-cost production of hydrogen from renewable energy sources, such as ethanol, without the generation of carbon dioxide which contributes to global warming.

We also intend to leverage our nickel hydroxide advanced products and manufacturing capabilities to create materials manufacturing businesses that can provide our licensees with competitive technological advantages and incentives necessary to grow the NiMH market.
