United Solar Ovonic, ECD Ovonics' wholly owned subsidiary, received letters from Michigan dignitaries congratulating it on the groundbreaking of its second 25-megawatt thin-film triple-junction solar module manufacturing facility, in Auburn Hills, Michigan.

Honorable Samuel W. Bodman, U.S. Secretary of Energy, delivered the keynote address on 14 July 2005 during the ceremony.
